Dogs are amazing. In spite of all the hardships they face (and there are so many different
issues such as abandonment, neglect, abuse, dog fighting, and being used as breeders in puppy mills), dogs who have had rough lives seem to have an unconditional love for humans. All it takes is a patient human who is willing to step in and help that pup recover from whatever trauma they’ve faced, to change everything forever. Thankfully, there are groups like Hope For Paws who make it their mission to give every dog who enters their care a new chance at life.
Spirit, the dog in the video above, is just one example of the many dogs that Hope For Paws has saved.
When the team received a text about a raggedy little dog who had been roaming near the L.A. River for several weeks, they pulled out their best rescue tactics to ensure that their rescue mission would be successful. But that’s not the most amazing part. Even though Spirit struggled and bared her teeth when she was trapped in their net, rescuers were not deterred. Instead, they reached out to this scared little dog and gently pet her head, reassuring her that she was in good hands. Although we can see that the pup was still very unsure of what would happen, she calmed down immediately.
It is clear from the video that Spirit formed a special bond with Loreta, the woman who helped save her life, but soon we’re sure she’ll be showering her new forever family with plenty of kisses.
