Ready For Wet and Muddy Winter Walks – L.L. Bean Boots

The Summer is over, Autumn is here and Winter is on the way. Here in the UK that means

plenty of rain, plenty of puddles and plenty of mud on hikes and dog walks especially.

You probably are aware that I have been working with L.L. Bean here in the UK recently and the iconic L.L. Bean beanboots are turning into a godsend. I am not a huge fan of wearing wellies as they are cold, uncomfortable and rarely fit properly. Plus you can hardly walk huge distances in them. On the other hand my hiking boots are made for rugged distance but cumbersome for daily dog walks and coastal walking they can’t get so deep in the sea.

The L.L. Bean beanboot is unique in that the lower half is like that of a really comfortable fit wellington boot, and the upper is a good waterproof leather, triple hand stitched onto the lower so you get the comfort of a boot with the all day waterproofness of a welly.

There is also a reinforcement going up the ankle for comfort and support that stands this boot apart from more uncomfortable boots used for watery and muddy adventures.

These bots are so often referred to as duck boots. They are the ‘original’ duck boot and as I stated in a previous post on these boots were specifically designed over 100 years ago to comfortably wade through water all day, without getting cold or uncomfortable feet.

These days you may know they are often imitated by others, but the longevity of these boots together with sill being carefully hand made to this day ensures they are the original iconic duck boot.

Take this photo above. I was training Malc and walking with him in the shallow sea for a couple of hours that day. Did my feet get cold? No. Did my feet get wet? No.

I have spent many months wearing these boots in all kinds of situations and they are my newest looking pir of footwear for sure.

The L.L. Bean Boot comes in a whole variety of styles and colours. You can even get them with a chamois lining inside for even more warmth and comfort. I use the traditional 8″ boots but you can differing heights for your own. 6 inch? or even all the way up to 10.

Padded ankles are an option or the canvas style hunting boot has a real retro look.

So yes, I am ready for all the weather on underfoot conditions this Autumn and winter can throw at me. Training and walking with the dog means I will be all over the place walking in new places and over all terrains all the time. I am sure the Beanboots will be ready each time in the bag or car.
