Another koala video gone viral. A heartbreaking video shows a koala in
Adelaide, Australia stopping a cyclist and gesturing as if asking for water. The city has been experience an extreme heatwave and has been under fire, literally. Adelaide is part of the country that has been experiencing devastating bushfires.
The cyclist, Anna Heusler, told News18 that seeing koalas isn’t unusual, but that the koala reacted strangely. The koala gestured as if it wanted water and Heusler offered the animal water from her bottle. Heusler then escorted the koala back into the forest, where it had been unharmed from the local fires.
Koalas has been center story of the bushfires in recent weeks, as their numbers continue to dwindle. New reports say that koalas in the areas have been reduced by 30%. The bushfires have burned 25,000 hectares in the area.
