10 Petitions You Should Sign This Week to Help Animals!

Yellowstone wolf
It’s horrible to hear about animal abuse cases or read the ways humans are endangering many species.
Fortunately, there are things we can do to speak for them. One of the ways we can help and lend our voices to good causes is by signing petitions. Such petitions are sent to people in powerful positions that can make a change, especially when they see just how many people stand behind the cause. We can demand change, justice, and stop tragedies by speaking up and doing our part.
There are horrifying things happening around the world every week like extinction, hunting, exploitation, and cruelty. If you are looking for a way to help animals, here are 10 petitions you should sign this week, which include banning animal testing for cosmetics, saving the green peafowl and the bluethroated hillstar, and stopping Yellowstone wolf hunting.
We want to thank you for being the change you wish to see in the world and giving a voice to the voiceless.

1. Stop Letting Pet Stores Support Puppy Mill Cruelty

Pennsylvania has a chance to become the third state after California and Maryland to pass this law. Animal advocates and lawmakers in Pennsylvania have been pushing for “a state Senate bill that would require pet stores to get animals from shelters and rescues instead of puppy mills.” According to them, Pennsylvania “ranks among the worst states when it comes to consumer complaints about animals from puppy mills” because many people buy puppies only to find they have behavioral or health problems. If you agree and want Pennsylvania to end the connection between puppy mills and pet stores, sign this petition.

2. Ban Animal Testing for Cosmetics Now!

Even though animal testing is not required by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or the Product Safety Commission in the U.S., and despite the fact that alternatives to animal testing exist, many companies continue to test their products and ingredients on animals. Please sign the petition asking your representative to support and co-sponsor the Humane Cosmetics Act.

3. Punish Man Who Had a Kill List With Thousands of Animals On It

A 61-year-old man in Scotland is an animal serial killer who even kept a kill list of the animals he killed. His list included cats, hedgehogs, foxes, goshawks, buzzards, and stoats. After murdering them, he kept them in a “stink pit.” He was apparently committed to killing “everything that moved.” He also killed many protected species. He’s been charged with animal cruelty and will be doing community service. But he is clearly dangerous to all living beings. Sign this petition if you think he should receive a prison sentence.

4. This Newly Discovered Mesmerizing Hummingbird Is About To Go Extinct!

Hummingbird
The bluethroated hillstar is a beautiful little hummingbird that was just discovered in 2019. It’s already at risk of disappearing forever because of humans. Where they live in Ecuador is also home to gold, copper, and lead, which people are greedy for and will destroy land to get. They’d be destroying the natural habitat of this hummingbird and other species. Sign this petition to ask the Ecuadorian government to put protections on this land!

5. Save the Green Peafowl in China

Green Peafowl
There are less than 20,000 green peafowls in the world. In China, there are only 500 and they are in danger. “Product installations” on nature reserves are illegal in China, but Yinyang Mining Company is planning to illegally slice up the small reserve where these birds live. This would cut their habitat down to a fraction of what it is now. Sign this petition to ask Governor of Yunnan Province, Ruan Chengfa to save the green peafowl in China ask him to shut down this illegal mine.

6. Ask Lithuanian Government to Ban Use of Wild Animals in Circuses

Baby bears
The world is realizing that the use of wild animals in circuses is cruel and unnatural. The UK banned it and the state of New Jersey did too. This summer, a 6-month-old bear cub was found dead in a circus camp in Lithuania. There has been outrage and people are asking Lithuania to also ban the use of wild animals in circuses. If you want to add your voice to the cause, sign this petition!

7. Stop Yellowstone Wolf Hunting with Your Tourist Dollars!

Yellowstone Wolf
Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming allow trophy hunting of wolves right next to the Yellowstone National Park, causing the horrific death and disruption of many of the same park wolves that are well known and cherished by visitors. Sign this petition as a Tourist Pledge to cut your spending in these states until these states end trophy hunting and trapping of Yellowstone National Park wolves.

8. End Violent Mass Killing and Torture of Homeless Animals in Uzbekistan

Instead of building shelters and sterilizing homeless animals, Uzbekistan decided to exterminate all homeless animals. It has lead to violence and cruelty with animals being shot or beaten to death, people running over animals with their cars, and stoning and torturing them to death slowly. Sign this petitiondemanding Uzbekistan to adopt proper laws protecting homeless animals from any cruelty and severely punishing people and animal control organizations for cruel treatment and capture of animals.

9. Urge the University of California System to Ban Sale of Beef!

Recently, Goldsmiths, University of London banned the sale of beef, imposing a charge on certain plastic products, and aiming to become carbon neutral! This was all done to reduce their environmental impact. Now, people are calling on the University of California (UC) system — one of the world’s largest university systems — to also ban the sale of beef on its various campuses. Sign this petition if you agree!

10. Stop Bowling Roller Pigeons at the Harrow Fair in Essex, Ontario

People bowling roller pigeons in Ontario
At the Harrow Fair in Ontario, people roll up roller pigeons and use them as bowling balls. It’s incredibly cruel and should not be allowed! The birds flutter, flap and try their best to save themselves from the torture. Sign this petition to take a stand against this terrible practice!
